Under the Lilacs by Louisa May Alcott

Under the Lilacs is a story about two sisters, Bab and Betty Moss who come upon a circus runaway, Ben and his dog, Sancho. Bab and Betty’s mother takes young Ben in an helps him to find a job tending cows, which eventually ends up with him working with Miss Celia a neighbor of the Moss family.
Throughout the story Louisa May Alcott teaches the readers the importance of helping others who are down on their luck, but not to have the person become depended on assistance. Miss Celia helps Ben by giving him a job and a place to stay.
This is a classic, to be loved by all. If you have never read it before you will be in for a pleasant treat.
